Review: Sony Ericsson M600i

sony_ericsson-m600i

"...I have to admit that for the first few days I really disliked the M600i. My first experience after turning it on and configuring Internet access was with the IMAP email bug that crashed the device several times throughout that first night. I also found the keyboard to be difficult to use, and the user interface to be inconsistent and disorganized.

sony_ericsson-m600i-display

But I persevered. Eventually I saw that the UI is reasonably organized, though it does have a number of annoying inconsistencies, and I found that while cramped, I rather like the keyboard now that I have adapted to it. The IMAP bug doesn't seem to be a problem with all accounts, as I had initially feared, and it turns out that the device's other apps offer a lot of fantastic functionality.

The end result? I actually like the M600i now. Due to its bugs and various rough edges I can not, in good conscience, give it a top rating, but I can feel comfortable in recommending it to people that want full PDA functionality in a normally sized phone. As long as they realize that this is still very much a PDA in that it requires use of a stylus more often than one might hope....

Review: Sony Ericsson K510i

sony_ericsson_k510i_couple

"It's a lightweight phone weighing only 80 grammes, and although it's a candybar shape it has a slightly parallelogram knock to it, which makes it a little different. The back is a soft touch material (similar to the Motorola PEBL) and the whole thing is available either in black or purple....

sony_ericsson_k510i

The camera is the key feature on this phone, but at 1.3 megapixels and 4 x digital zoom, it doesn't do anything to wow (especially in the week LG announce the first 5 megapixel camera phone). There's no flash included, not even an light, so this has to be purchased separately - I doubt they were flying off the shelves. Since a key feature of this phone is the ability to share your photos, the absence of some kind of blogging programme is noticeable. Unfortunately, exactly this was announced by Sony Ericsson and Google (owner of Blogger.com) just a few days after this phone was launched...

Sony Ericsson K750i Red Mobile Phone Out Now

sony_ericsson_k750i_red

"Sony Ericsson have released a new red version of the popular Sony Ericsson K750i called, unsurprisingly, the Sony Ericsson K750i Red. Be careful not to confuse this with the new Sony Ericsson K610i, which is for all intents and purposes a 3G version of the K750i alebit a touch smaller and lighter.

The red version of the popular mobile phone differs in no way whatsoever from the existing K750i apart from it's red shell, meaning you can still expect features such as a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, FM Radio, MP3 player, bluetooth and expandable memory. You can take a look at the full specifications in our Sony Ericsson K750i Red section....

Review: Sony Ericsson V630i

Sony_Ericsson_v630

"There’s a lot going on with the V630i. The new multimedia phone from Sony Ericsson packs so much in, you’re bound to be shocked when you hear it ring, reminding you of the reason phones were invented.

It's a feature-packed 3G phone, available exclusively through Vodafone. And this is no random partnership – the V630i has been kitted out with a menu that makes the most of what Vodafone Live! (its 3G service) has to offer. For instance, Mobile TV, launched last year, is now available through the main Entertainment menu on the phone, rather than through the browser....

Review: Sony Ericsson W810i

Sony_Ericsson_W810i_duo

"Overall the Sony Ericsson W810i is a good and useable mobile phone that packs some serious muscle when it comes to laying music. It’s not your usual corporate offering and most companies will stick to basic Nokia models or issue Blackberry's, but from our use this seems flawed as the W810i offers a good small mobile that is most suited to corporate life and yet is that bit more exciting and would leave your staff feeling you’d given them a gift rather than a chain to the office....

Sony Ericsson V630i Coming in June

sony-ericsson_v630i

"The Sony Ericsson V630i is a lightweight 3G phone baded on the Sony Ericsson K610i handset. It comes with a 176x220 pixel display, 2 megapixel digital camera and expandable memory (using Memory Stick Micro cards) but weighs just 91 grams.

sony-ericsson_v630i_duo

The V630i is functionally identical to the K610i except the Vodafone branding and menus, and the inclusion of something called "Radio DJ" which is tied in with Vodafone's 3G downloads service. Because it is based on the K610i, we expect that the V630i will be an equally capable handset. A sort of 3G version of the K750i, if you like....

Sony Ericsson W550i Review

Sony_Ericsson_W550i

Many phones have gone beyond just making calls and these "Smartphones" are normally top end models with top end prices. However the latest Sony Ericsson phone to reach us for review, the W550i is more a phone for the average user. We tested the W550i over a week to see if its performance was more than average.
The Sony Ericsson W550i measures 97 x 47 x 23mm and tips the scales at a celebrity fat club weight of 120 grams, its fair to say its a little porky or chubby but not as obese as the S700i. The quad band W550 supports worldwide networks and also boasts edge data connectivity allowing use of GPRS enabled networks to pick up email, surf the web and to download audio tracks for its Walkman features....

Sony Ericsson W550 and W600 Walkman review

Sony Ericsson W550

It has been a while since I wrote my previous review. I have used the Sony Ericsson K750 daily since I got it earlier this year except for two or three weeks when I used the Sony Ericsson K600i. I did not like the K600 very much because the unit I possessed did not have dictionary for my native language. I do not think the K600 keys are any good so I put the K600 in the drawer and saves it for phone calls I know I will be using the 3G video feature.

First impression
My first impression of the W550i was surprisingly positive. I can not say it is tiny, but it is much smaller than I thought it would be. It is slightly thinner (2mm less thickness) than its older sister, the S700i, but seems even smaller.

Together, Ericsson and NRK launched a downloadable client for the
existing interactive TV format, Svisj. For example, viewers can vote

SE W600i music phone now available from Cingular

Sony Ericsson W800

So, you want a music phone but don’t want to break the bank? Well Cingular is coming to the rescue: they are now carrying the Sony Ericsson W600i. The chic-looking spinner phone comes with 256MB of internal memory, but unfortunately is not expandable, so if you’re looking to load up this Walkman phone for a long road trip, you might be just a bit disappointed. There is no way that you’ll be able to compress 100 decent quality songs onto this thing, and it won’t take PlaysForSure DRM WMAs.

That said, this quadband phone comes with all the basics, and if you’re not looking for anything too fancy, this could very well fit the bill. You could splurge for a SE W800 or K750, but keep in mind that those two phones are tri-band, so if you’re living in an area with limited service, you may not get any reception with those, but you likely would with the W600i....

Sony Ericsson T610 Camera Phone Review

Sony Ericcson t610

Sony Ericsson calls the T610 camera phone an image and entertainment phone instead of a smartphone. They reserve the smartphone designation for the higher-end and higher-priced, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant)-like P800 and P900 series. The T610 is, however, a very capable and relatively tiny Bluetooth-enabled GSM/GPRS wireless phone.

The T610 is not based on Linux, the Microsoft Smartphone, Palm OS, or Symbian OS platforms. Nor does it have the larger storage memory (4 to 16MB RAM) associated with phones typically categorized as smartphones. Instead, it is based on the proprietary Sony Ericsson OS. And it can run applications written in Java.

This Sony phone has a 65536-color screen, 2MB of internal RAM, a built-in camera capable of taking small still photos, a WAP/XHTML browser, and support for both infrared and Bluetooth personal-area wireless communications....

Review of the Sony Ericsson W550 Walkman Phone

Sony Ericsson W550

The Sony Ericsson S700 was a hit amongst mobile phone fanatics. Featuring a spinner form factor, it oozed style and fashion once thought to be exclusive to Japanese handsets. Sony Ericsson decided to launch their second Walkman branded handset, the W550, with a spinner form factor much like the S700, and throw in a 1.3 megapixel camera and a whopping 256MB of on board memory to boot. Similar to the W800, the W550 also comes in a vibrant orange, but features exchangeable faceplates. This would definitely appeal to those who love to personalize their phones.

The W550 is a tri band (900/1800/1900MHz) phone, and features GPRS connectivity. So how does the W550 perform as a Walkman handset, and more importantly, how well does it carry out its task as a phone?

Sony Ericsson K600i 3G Phone Review

Sony Ericsson K 600i

DESPITE being a year old, the Vodafone-exclusive Sony Ericsson V800 still remains a Rolls Royce of a 3G phone. While it has its faults - the bulge may put off some punters - we were incredibly impressed by its ease of use and all-round 3G performance. Plus, of course, it looked dynamic in its shiny black armour. Even a year on this clamshell rolls with the best of 'em, with Sony Ericsson launching its own generic version, the Z800i.

The manufacturer is now hoping to build on this promise with its third 3G offering, the K600i. Returning to the more familiar territory of the candybar format, this sleek handset also comes in two other flavours, the 3-loving K608i and the Vodafone-seasoned V600i. With a few cosmetic tweaks here and there in terms of specs, all three phones are essentially identical. Like the Samsung Z500, the K600i is part of the new generation of 3G handsets that flaunt 2.5G footprints. Admittedly, it is a little taller than, say, the W800i and K750i but in terms of its other dimensions, the handset is pretty sleek. The nicely rounded edges and almost cylindrical form contributes to its stylish design....

Review: Sony Ericsson W800i Walkman Phone

music-sony-handheld-wireless_W800i

The W800i's main draw is its built-in MP3/AAC music player. Plug in a 512-MB Sony Memory Stick to the external memory slot and the W800i is capable of storing about 150 music tracks. Even better, the supplied Disc2Phone software renders it a snap to transfer music from a CD collection.

The Sony Ericsson W800i Walkman Phone combines the range of capabilities of a portable media player with the standard features of today's cellular handsets.

And by taking Apple's iPod concept one step further to include wireless voice capabilities, the first phone for the American market to bear the Walkman name appears poised to make quite a splash.
